How to remove Mid-Town handle?

For Kitchen and Lavatory Faucets:

  1. Pull out the rubber button (part #1).
  2. Use a hex wrench (part #3) to unscrew counter-clockwise to loosen the set screw (part #2).
    The hex wrench is 2.5 mm or 1/8".
  3. Pull out the on/off handle (part # 4).
    If still hard to be pulled away, then loosen the set screw again.

 

For Showers:

  1. Pull out the rubber button (part #1).
  2. Use a hex wrench (part #3) to unscrew counter-clockwise to loosen the set screw (part #2).
    The hex wrench is 2.5 mm or 1/8".
  3. Pull out the on/off handle (part #4).
    If still hard to be pulled away, then loosen the set screw again.
  4. To remove the base ring (part # 5), repeat steps 1 and 2.
 
 
For Widespread Lavatory Faucets
 
  1. Pull out the rubber button (part #1).
  2. Use a hex wrench to unscrew counter-clockwise to loosen the set screw (part #2).
    The hex wrench is 2.5 mm or 1/8".
  3. Pull out the handle (part #3).
  4. Remove the base ring (part #4).
  5. Remove the handle extension (part #5).
 
For Roman Tub Faucets
 
  1. Turn the water off the hot and cold supply lines.
  2. Support the handle valve body under the deck. The handle valve body will fall off when the handle is removed.
  3. Turn the handle ring (part #1) counter-clockwise by hand until the handle can be removed completely. If you are unable to remove the handle ring with your hand, you can put a cloth around the ring and use a pair of pliers or adjustable wrench to loosen it.
 

For 3/4" Thermostatic Valve Trim:

  1. Pull out the rubber button (part #1) and unscrew the set screw (part #1) using a hex wrench counter-clockwise.
    The hex wrench is 2.5 mm head or 1/8".
  2. Pull out the handle assembly (part #2).
 
Follow these below steps to remove the remaining handle trim kits to reach the cartridge and the valve.
  1. Remove the limit stop (part #3).
  2. Unscrew the handle trim ring (part #4) counter-clockwise.
  3. Pull out the escutcheon plate to reach the cartridge and the thermostatic valve.

NOTE: When reinstalling the limit stop and the handle assembly, align the gun sight on the limit stop with the notch on the valve cartridge stem. When recalibrating output temperature for high temperature over-ride position, rotate the cartridge stem counter-clockwise until the desired temperature is reached. For a lower output temperature over-ride position, rotate the cartridge stem clockwise until the desired temperature is reached. When reinstalling the handle assembly, align the over-ride button in line with the gun sight on the limit stop.
