For older versions of kitchen faucets, the kitchen spray hoses are connected to the faucet supply pipe with a shank adaptor and a hose adapter. For newer versions of kitchen faucets, the kitchen spray hoses are connected to the faucet mixing hose with a quick connect hose adapter.
The hose adapter is part of the spray hose assembly. If the hose adapter has broken off the spray hose after a new installation or after a replacement, make sure that the hose adapter is well-connected. See the article "How to install or remove Kitchen Faucet Hose Adapters (Brass and Quick Connectors)?" for detailed information on testing the hose adapter connection.
Otherwise, either or both the spray hose assembly and the spray hose adapter may need to be replaced. Inspect the spray hose first and see if there is any visible damage. Inspect both at the connection and along the spray hose. If no damage is found, only the spray hose adapter needs to be replaced.
If the hose adapter is damaged and needs to be replaced, for the old brass adapter type, replace the shank adapter as well; for the plastic quick connect adapter type, the hose adapter on the mixing hose cannot be replaced.
