If your kitchen faucet has a side spray that is not working properly, the cause of the problem may be one or a combination of the following:
- The spray hose
- The diverter
- The side spray
NOTE: Before starting the following troubleshooting, verify if the water pressure at the main faucet spout is working properly.
To troubleshoot the issue caused side spray malfunction, follow the steps below:
-
Is the water pressure from the side spray low? Verify if your side spray head has a cover at the tip where the jets come out. The side spray may be clogged by debris.
- Remove the cover, clean it, and place it back. Test the water pressure and see if the pressure has improved. If the water pressure has improved after replacing the spray head, the old spray head most likely has an obstruction. The issue is resolved once the obstruction is cleared.
- Look for any visible cracks, loose components, or worn-out seals. If any visible damage, replace the side spray.
- If clearing out debris in the side spray, and the water pressure has not improved, inspect the entire length of the hose for any signs of cracks, kinks, or holes. While the water is running, run your hand along the length of the hose and inspect the hose for any visible damage. Replace the spray hose if it is damaged.
- If the issue persists, the cause can be due to the diverter. Remove the diverter from the faucet body and clean the diverter under the water. Replace the diverter back to the faucet body and test again. If the issue persist, replace the diverter.
