Some recent home renovations may opt to use bath linen for covering an old bathtub and refitting it to look like a completely new install. This bathtub refitting may require an adjustment of the tub drain with a longer thread for the shoe plug. Geber currently does not offer a longer thread for the shoe plug for the Gerber brass tub drains. However, a customer can obtain a brass thread adapter of 1 1/2" female NPT to 1 1/2" male NH / NST (Hex) to achieve this.
This thread adapter can be placed on a shoe with pipe dope before placing the washers and the shoe plug. This thread adapter can work with most of the Gerber brass tub drains when needed.
When using this thread adapter in a Gerber brass pop-up tub drain, an adjustment of the Linkage For Pop-Up Plunger is also required. For this adjustment instruction, follow this link to see the instruction PDF file.

Although Gerber offers other types of material tub drains, i.e. ABS and PVC tub drains, we DO NOT RECOMMEND using a brass thread adapter onto ABS or PVC tub drains.
